Proper care and maintenance can help preserve the appearance, performance and longevity of your lighting products. Please read the following instructions carefully before cleaning, maintaining or installing your Fnaisn lighting products.

1. Upon Receipt

When your Fnaisn lighting product arrives, please inspect it carefully before installation.

Check the Packaging

Check the outer packaging for signs of:

  • Impact or crushing

  • Tears or punctures

  • Water damage

  • Other visible damage

If the packaging appears significantly damaged, please take photographs before opening the parcel.

Inspect the Product

After opening the package, carefully check:

  • Glass shades

  • Metal frames

  • Lampshades

  • Mounting components

  • Cables and wires

  • Connectors

  • Screws and fittings

  • Other included components

If any component is damaged, missing or appears defective, please contact us before installation.

Do not install or operate a lighting product that appears damaged.

2. General Cleaning & Care

Regular cleaning helps maintain the appearance of your Fnaisn lighting products.

Before cleaning any lighting product:

  1. Switch off the light.

  2. Disconnect the power supply where applicable.

  3. Allow the light and bulb to cool completely.

  4. Follow the product-specific instructions supplied with your order.

Dusting

Use a clean, soft and dry microfibre cloth to gently remove dust.

Avoid applying excessive pressure to delicate surfaces, glass shades or decorative finishes.

Cleaning Metal Surfaces

For metal finishes such as brass, bronze, stainless steel or painted metal:

  • Use a soft, slightly damp cloth.

  • Wipe gently.

  • Dry the surface immediately with a clean cloth.

  • Avoid abrasive materials.

  • Avoid harsh chemical cleaners.

Do not use scouring pads, steel wool or abrasive cleaning products.

Cleaning Glass

For glass shades and glass components:

  • Switch off and disconnect the light before cleaning.

  • Allow the glass to cool completely.

  • Remove the glass component only if the product instructions permit removal.

  • Clean using a soft cloth and suitable glass cleaner.

  • Apply cleaner to the cloth rather than directly onto electrical components.

  • Dry thoroughly before reinstalling.

Never use abrasive cleaners that may scratch the glass.

3. Electrical Safety

Lighting products contain electrical components and should be treated with appropriate care.

Important Safety Guidelines

  • Always switch off the electricity before cleaning or carrying out maintenance.

  • Never touch electrical components with wet hands.

  • Never spray cleaning products directly onto a light fitting.

  • Keep water away from electrical connections.

  • Do not modify, disassemble or alter electrical components unless specifically instructed by the manufacturer.

  • Do not use a product if cables, plugs, connectors or electrical components appear damaged.

  • Do not attempt electrical repairs unless you are appropriately qualified.

For fixed electrical lighting products, including wall lights and bathroom vanity lighting, we recommend installation and electrical work be carried out by a qualified electrician or suitably competent professional in accordance with applicable UK requirements.

4. Wall Lights

Fnaisn Wall Lights are designed to provide both functional illumination and decorative appeal.

To maintain your wall lights:

  • Dust the fitting regularly with a soft, dry cloth.

  • Clean glass shades gently using a suitable glass cleaner.

  • Wipe metal surfaces with a soft, slightly damp cloth.

  • Dry all surfaces thoroughly after cleaning.

  • Check visible screws and fittings periodically.

  • Do not allow moisture to enter electrical components.

If the fitting becomes loose, switches off unexpectedly, flickers abnormally or shows signs of electrical damage, stop using it and seek professional assistance.

5. Bathroom Vanity Lighting

Bathroom environments require additional care because of moisture and humidity.

Before installing or cleaning a bathroom vanity light, always check the product specifications and installation instructions to ensure that the product is suitable for the intended location.

Bathroom Lighting Care

  • Keep electrical connections dry.

  • Do not spray water or cleaning products directly onto the fitting.

  • Wipe condensation or moisture from accessible external surfaces.

  • Clean glass and metal surfaces with appropriate non-abrasive products.

  • Ensure ventilation is adequate to reduce excessive condensation.

  • Never use a fitting outside its specified environmental or safety rating.

Important: Bathroom lighting must be installed in an appropriate location and in accordance with applicable UK electrical safety requirements.

Where required, installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician.

6. Light Bulbs & LED Components

Always use the correct light source specified for your Fnaisn product.

Before replacing a bulb:

  1. Switch off the power.

  2. Allow the existing bulb to cool completely.

  3. Remove the bulb carefully.

  4. Install a compatible replacement.

  5. Ensure the bulb is securely fitted before restoring power.

Do not exceed the maximum wattage specified for the product.

If a product contains an integrated LED light source, do not attempt to remove or modify the LED module unless specifically instructed by the manufacturer.

7. Care for Different Materials

Glass

Use a soft microfibre cloth and a suitable glass cleaner.

Avoid:

  • Abrasive cleaners

  • Scouring pads

  • Excessive pressure

  • Sudden temperature changes

Metal

Use a soft cloth with a small amount of clean water if necessary.

Dry immediately after cleaning.

Avoid:

  • Steel wool

  • Abrasive sponges

  • Strong solvents

  • Bleach

  • Harsh chemical cleaners

Brass & Decorative Finishes

Decorative metal finishes may naturally develop subtle changes in appearance over time.

Clean gently using a soft, dry cloth.

Avoid aggressive polishing unless the product instructions specifically recommend it, as excessive polishing may alter the original finish.

Fabric or Soft Lampshades

Where applicable:

  • Dust gently using a soft brush or microfibre cloth.

  • Avoid soaking the material.

  • Do not use excessive moisture.

  • Follow any specific care instructions supplied with the product.

8. Preventing Damage

To help extend the life of your lighting products:

  • Keep fixtures away from unnecessary impact.

  • Do not hang or place objects on lighting products.

  • Do not pull or place excessive pressure on cables.

  • Do not use incompatible bulbs.

  • Avoid excessive moisture unless the product is specifically designed for that environment.

  • Keep products away from corrosive substances.

  • Avoid exposing finishes to harsh cleaning chemicals.

  • Follow the installation and maintenance instructions supplied with the product.

9. Common Issues & What to Do

The Light Does Not Turn On

Check:

  • Whether the power supply is switched on.

  • Whether the bulb is correctly installed.

  • Whether the bulb is compatible.

  • Whether the bulb requires replacement.

If the problem continues, stop using the product and contact us or seek assistance from a qualified electrician.

The Light Flickers

Flickering may be caused by an incompatible bulb, dimmer, connection or electrical issue.

Switch off the product and check the product instructions.

If the problem continues, do not continue operating the light. We recommend consulting a qualified electrician.

The Light Becomes Hot

Some lighting products and bulbs naturally generate heat during operation.

However, if you notice unusual heat, burning smells, smoke, melting, discolouration or other abnormal behaviour:

Switch off the product immediately and disconnect the power supply if it is safe to do so.

Do not use the product again until it has been inspected appropriately.

Loose Fitting

If a wall light or other fixed fitting becomes loose, switch off the power and do not attempt to repair electrical components yourself.

Contact a qualified electrician where appropriate.

Broken Glass

If a glass shade or glass component is broken:

  • Switch off the light immediately.

  • Do not touch broken glass with bare hands.

  • Keep children and pets away from the area.

  • Do not operate the product.

  • Contact Fnaisn for assistance.

10. Maintenance Schedule

We recommend carrying out simple visual checks periodically.

Monthly

  • Remove visible dust.

  • Check for unusual discolouration.

  • Check for visible damage.

Every 3–6 Months

  • Clean glass and metal surfaces where required.

  • Check visible fittings.

  • Check for loose components.

  • Check cables and accessible connections for visible damage.

When Replacing Bulbs

  • Use only compatible bulbs.

  • Follow the specified wattage and fitting requirements.

  • Check the bulb holder for visible damage.

These are general recommendations. Always follow the specific instructions supplied with your Fnaisn product where they differ.

11. Storage

If you need to store your lighting product:

  • Keep it in a clean and dry environment.

  • Avoid excessive humidity.

  • Keep the original packaging where possible.

  • Protect glass components from impact.

  • Do not place heavy objects on top of the product.

  • Keep electrical components dry.

  • Store small screws and fittings together with the product.

12. Professional Installation

Many of our lighting products require electrical installation.

For fixed lighting products such as Wall Lights and Bathroom Vanity Lighting, we strongly recommend using a qualified electrician or suitably competent professional for installation.

Please do not attempt electrical installation if you are not appropriately qualified or competent to do so.

The installer should:

  • Read the installation instructions fully.

  • Check the product specification.

  • Confirm compatibility with the electrical supply.

  • Use appropriate mounting hardware.

  • Ensure the fitting is securely installed.

  • Follow applicable UK electrical safety requirements.

13. Product Modifications

Do not:

  • Modify the wiring.

  • Remove safety components.

  • Alter the electrical system.

  • Exceed the specified wattage.

  • Use incompatible bulbs or electrical accessories.

  • Modify the fitting for a different installation purpose.

Unauthorised modifications may create safety risks and may affect applicable product warranties or guarantees.
